About the author
Ilias Aarrass
Bookkeeper and owner of Fiscly Finance
I'm Ilias Aarrass. I handle the bookkeeping for freelancers and sole traders across the Netherlands, from Purmerend. I write and check every article in this knowledge base myself — not because I have to, but because these are the same questions I get on the phone every week.
What I write about
- VAT returns, corrections and the reverse-charge scheme
- Income tax for sole traders and entrepreneur allowances
- Deductions: which costs qualify, and what records you need
- Choosing between a sole trader and a BV, including customary salary
- Setting up your records: invoices, receipts, retention and debtors
- Industry rules in construction, healthcare, hospitality, taxi and e-commerce
How this knowledge base is written
Every article answers a question clients actually ask me. I don't invent topics to rank in Google.
Amounts, rates and thresholds are checked at the source: the Dutch tax authorities, the Chamber of Commerce and published legislation. Each article shows when I last reviewed it.
When a rule changes I update the article rather than publishing a second one next to it. So what you read still holds next year.
An article is general guidance, not personal advice. For your own situation I'd rather take a look with you.
